The Umbrella Center will be comprehensive in scope, offering a full range of services to survivors of domestic, child, sexual, and elder abuse as well as human trafficking. This walk-in center will be open to anyone who self-identifies as a survivor of abuse or victims who are referred by community partners.

Pat's Place Child Advocacy Center
Coordinates services for the most serious cases of child abuse in Mecklenburg County. Pat's Place Child Advocacy Center provides a safe, trauma-informed space for children to receive trauma assessments, forensic interviews, medical evaluations, family advocacy, and therapy services.Safe Alliance
Provides a wide range of services to individuals in Mecklenburg County impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24/7 hotline, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, emergency shelter, and legal assistance.

Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services
- Department of Community Resources - Provides referrals for economic services such as Work First, Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, and Emergency Assistance.
- Youth and Family Services - Investigates cases of alleged child abuse and neglect. YFS caseworkers work with families to assure children are protected from future harm and raised in safe and nurturing homes.
- Services for Adults Investigates cases of alleged abuse, neglect, and exploitation against older adults. Provides supportive services to older adults and their care networks.
- Domestic Violence- Provides free counseling for those who have experienced domestic violence in a current or past relationship as well as immediate services for those in crisis.
- Substance Use- Provides substance use assessments as well as intensive substance use counseling for those impacted by violence and abuse.
- Coordinated Entry- Provides housing assessments and resources to those actively experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

At The Umbrella Center, Atrium Health will have an onsite clinic that provides medical examinations for trauma-related injuries as well as general healthcare services for children, teens, and adults.

- Domestic Violence Healthcare Project - Trains nurses, doctors, and other staff to recognize signs of domestic violence in patients and provide referrals to onsite advocates for support and resources.
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners - Specially trained SANE nurses provide medical, psychological, and forensic examinations to individuals who have experienced a sexual assault.

Legal Support
Prosecutes crimes to hold offenders accountable and increase community safety. The DA's Office has Special Victims Teams dedicated to cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking.
Work within the local court system to ensure courtrooms, judges, and judicial processes are trauma-informed, safe, and supportive of victims. Judges hear civil protection orders as well as criminal cases.
Provides free legal help to low-income North Carolinians in civil cases involving basic human needs like safety, shelter, income and more.

Responsible for issuing warrants, serving perpetrators with protection orders, acting as court security, and maintaining Mecklenburg County jails.

In addition to these core partners, The Umbrella Center will be a nexus for community resources. Additionally, the center will have drop-in space for visiting partners to meet with clients.
