Survivor Resource Center

Every survivor's experience and needs are different.

When you arrive, you'll meet with a Safe Alliance advocate who will:

• Listen without judgment
• Help identify immediate and long-term needs
• Discuss options and available resources
• Assist with safety planning
• Connect you to services that support your goals

Your advocate can support you through both crisis situations and longer-term healing and recovery. You decide what services are right for you, and we will walk alongside you every step of the way.

Survivors may receive assistance with:

• Safety planning
• Emotional support
• Housing referrals and resources
• Employment and financial resource navigation
• Health care and mental health referrals
• Public benefits assistance
• Court accompaniment and justice system navigation
• Connections to community resources
• Ongoing advocacy and support

Healing does not happen overnight. Our advocates remain available to help survivors access resources and support throughout their journey.

The Survivor Resource Center brings together multiple organizations you may work with over the course of seeking safety and healing.

Depending on your needs and availability, you can choose to meet onsite or be connected with representatives from:

• Children's Advocacy Center of Charlotte: Provides specialized services for children and families impacted by child abuse, including child forensic interviews, family advocacy, and connections to additional support services.
• Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department: Offers opportunities to report crimes, receive updates on investigations, and connect with law enforcement personnel who work closely with survivors of violence and abuse.
• Coordinated Entry: Helps individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness connect with housing resources and supportive housing programs.
• Department of Community Resources: Assists with access to community-based programs and resources that promote safety, stability, and self-sufficiency.
• Department of Social Services - Youth & Family Services: Provides services that support child safety and family well-being, including child protective services and family support resources.
• Community Support Services - Counseling Services: Connects survivors with behavioral health resources, counseling, and other supportive services that promote emotional wellness and recovery.

Having these partners available in one location can help you access coordinated support, reduce barriers, and connect with services more efficiently.

In addition to our onsite partners, the Survivor Resource Center works closely with community partners including the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, and Atrium Health to provide coordinated care and support. Our advocates help facilitate these connections and navigate systems alongside you, making it as easy as possible to access the resources and services that meet your needs.

Your advocate can also connect you with other Safe Alliance programs, including:

• Victim Assistance Court Program: Support, advocacy, and legal support for survivors seeking civil protection orders.
• Domestic Violence Shelter: Emergency shelter and safety services for survivors fleeing abuse.
• Sexual Trauma Resource Center Counseling: Trauma-informed counseling and therapeutic support for survivors of sexual assault.
